Milestone for Ramsey Community Hub

Ramsey Community Hub celebrated its first anniversary last Friday, 17 August.

Cllr Mac McGuire, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Community Engagement thanked everyone at the celebrations for their role in the success of the hub and said "Ramsey Library is working well as a Community Hub, it's being used by a range of public and private agencies as well as providing rooms for communities to use. It's at the heart of the community and this is what we want to see replicated across the county for the benefit of all our residents."

In addition to the success of Ramsey, other Cambridgeshire residents across the county will also benefit from Community Hubs.

Community Hubs were first agreed last year as part of the vision to design a twenty first century library service. Based on ideas put forward from residents and local library groups they'll see residents benefit by being able to access a number of services from one location.

Cllr McGuire said "As outlined last year, we've been looking to see whether other council services and even local businesses or community facilities such as Post Offices could share buildings, reducing operating costs."

The other designate Community Hubs so far are:
  • Linton
  • Buckden
  • Sawtry
  • Bar Hill
  • Cambourne
  • Central Library
  • Huntingdon
