Youngsters Asked To Choose New Play Equipment For Park

Youngsters are being asked to choose new play equipment for their playground.

Cambridge City Council is allocating money to improve the playground in the park near Homerton Children’s Centre on Holbrook Road.

At the moment, the play area has a slide, wooden climbing frame/obstacle course, swings, spring mounted rides and goalposts provided in 1996 after a petition from youngsters. There is also a picnic table which was requested by residents.

Keen to keep the community involvement alive, Liberal Democrat Amanda Taylor is running a survey of all park users giving them a choice of possible equipment.

The choice includes rotators, a small climber and a springer.

Amanda said: “I’m really keen for everyone to have their say on this, especially the children. Youngsters were instrumental in getting the play area originally and I want to make sure they have real input in any new equipment that is added.”

The new equipment can be seen on Amanda’s website at:

and residents are urged to give their comments to Amanda via email at or by dropping a note through her door at 41 Holbrook Road.
