Funding Sources for Communities

Fens Adventurers still in business!

With only a year to go, the Fens Adventurers grants programme still has around £150,000 to invest in sustainable projects which address gaps in basic services , or increase employment across the food and farming and micro business sectors. Applicants are supported in writing their application and the aim is to get projects completed by September 2013 in order to draw down all the funding that has been awarded for the Fens. If you have an idea, contact Mike Carter on 03535 865047 or email See for more detail and case studies .

The Sport England Protecting Playing Fields Programme

The fourth round of Sport England’s Protecting Playing Fields programme is now open with grants of between £10,000 and £50,000 available.

Cambridgeshire ACRE Services:

Community Oil Buying Scheme

Cambridgeshire ACRE’s community oil buying scheme members paid only 57.39 pence per litre for their heating oil at the end of November, against an average price found of 62.90 ppl. So a customer who ordered 1,000 litres saved themselves over £55! We will be buying oil again in early January so if you want to take advantage of cheaper oil prices, why not consider joining our scheme?

Job Vacancies:

Cambridgeshire ACRE

Cambridgeshire ACRE doesn’t have any paid roles vacant at present. However, we are always looking for volunteers to help support our programmes of work. For current opportunities, please visit our website.

The post-holder will work principally with communities in Dacorum and North Herts districts to explore opportunities for rural affordable housing across the county. And finally:

Have a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. There’ll be no News Digest in January but we’ll be back as normal from February onwards.
