Sawston Voters Off To The Polls This Thursday

Eligible voters in Sawston will vote in a new district councillor this Thursday (18 July) at a local by-election.

One South Cambridgeshire District Council seat is available, with four candidates standing for election: Kevin Cuffley, standing for the Conservative Party; Michael Kilpatrick, standing for the Liberal Democrat Party; Mike Nettleton, standing for the Labour Party and Elizabeth Smith, standing for UKIP.

Residents can cast their vote at a polling station based in the Free Church Hall on Sawston High Street between 7am and 10pm.

Over 700 postal votes were issued on 4 July and must arrive by Thursday for votes to count. Last-minute postal votes can also be handed in to the polling station on the day of the by-election.

The by-election was triggered in June after former independent district councillor, Sally Hatton, resigned. Following Thursday’s poll, the new Sawston Councillor will join David Bard and Raymond Matthews – both Conservative Party councillors – in representing the ward.
