Can You Encourage More People To Walk Or Cycle More Often?

Groups who want to promote cycling and walking in the city can apply for up to £5,000 funding from Cambridge City Council.

Grants will be given to groups who want to set up a project to encourage new cyclists, encourage people to walk or cycle more often, promote safer cycling and/or walking or reduce cycle theft.

Tim Ward, Executive Councillor for Planning and Climate Change said ‘We hope that local groups such as residents associations, voluntary organisations or charities will apply for funding which could cover anything from visitor cycle parking to organising cycle rides.’

Last year funding went to the You Can Hub which not only helps those with disabilities try out cycling on specially adapted bicycles, it also encourages their carers to take up cycling too.

The deadline for this round of funding is 11th October 2013.

To apply for this grant please go to www.cambridge.gov.uk/cycling or contact Clare Rankin on 457108 or e-mail clare.rankin@cambridge.gov.uk.
