Manning Secures Road Victory To Keep Youngsters Safe

Ian and Sarah celebrate victory at Fallowfields
Plans to stop drivers racing through a Cambridge estate where children play have moved a step closer clocking up a victory for East Chesterton County Councillor, Ian Manning.

Ian has run a long campaign for improvements to the Fallowfields area of East Chesterton and last night (Thursday) his proposals won the support of Cambridge City Council’s North Area Committee.

The committee agreed to give £15,000 to alter Fallowfield’s internal loop road to stop cars racing round at speed.

Ian has already secured £10,000 from Cambridgeshire County Council for his plans.

“This has been a long campaign. I'm so pleased that not only will residents get safety improvements, we also will be able to improve the look of the area with some green space,” said Ian.

Local mother Sarah Pearson, who originally approached Ian with the safety concerns, was overjoyed at the result:

She said:  “I'm so pleased Ian has shown me just what is possible.  I'm now looking forward to getting involved in the design of the feature.”

Now Ian is investigating options with the local housing association, 100 housing to create an even larger green space.
