Cambridge MP Celebrates City's Music At Awards Ceremony

MP Julian Huppert will present the award for the Best Duo at an evening designed to celebrate and recognise the talent from Cambridge’s music scene.

Julian has been invited to take part in the NMG Awards run by community radio station Cambridge 105 as part of its flagship live music show, the New Music Generator.

Musicians, singers, songwriters and bands will come together at the Portland Arms in Chesterton tomorrow evening (Thursday, October 24) for the event hosted by radio station manager and presenter, Tim Willett.

There will be awards in 12 different categories during the evening and those receiving the awards come from Cambridge and surrounding towns and villages.

Julian said: “I am delighted to be able to take part in this event and present this award. We have so much talent in the Cambridge area and it is great to see Cambridge 105 not only giving musicians, singers and songwriters a chance to have their music heard on the radio but also celebrate their success.

“I am looking forward to meeting those receiving the awards and finding out more about the local music scene.”

Tim Willett said: “I'm really pleased to get Julian's backing in attending this event, I continue to be amazed at the depth of talent the city of Cambridge has to offer and look forward to giving artists an opportunity to network and have their achievements recognised at the awards tomorrow night.”

The evening will take the form of a traditional awards ceremony from 8pm to 11pm in the gig room at the Portland Arms. Julian will present his award at 8.30pm.
