10 Year Milestone For King's Hedges Calendar

Residents and community groups joined the Mayor and staff from Cambridge City Council’s Community Development Service to celebrate the launch of the 10th edition of the ‘King’s Hedges Healthy Living Calendar’ at Buchan Street Neighbourhood Centre today.

The calendar celebrates community activity in the King’s Hedges area and features local community groups and organisations that work in the area, as well as promoting events and activities for the coming year.

"We have a different theme each year," said Binnie Pickard, Community Development Officer for the area, who has led on the project since its inception 10 years ago. "Past themes have included volunteers, celebrating diversity, the environment - and this year we are taking a look at King’s Hedges past and present".

"Over the last 10 years, the calendar has shown people in Kings Hedges getting involved and supporting their community through a great variety of activities, and continues to go from strength to strength," said Sarah Brown, Executive Councillor for Community Wellbeing.

To help promote this year’s theme, local historian Mike Petty from the Cambridgeshire Collection was invited to speak at the launch event.

The calendar, which is funded by the council, will be delivered to each household in the King’s Hedges area. It has been well received by residents in the area over the years.
