Cambridge Markets Back Small Business Saturday

Cambridge Market, one of the oldest markets in the country (and recently voted one of the top 125 most influential businesses in the region by the Cambridge News) is getting behind two national campaigns this Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th December; "Small Business Saturday" and the "Love Your Local Market Christmas Campaign," with a weekend of fun and entertainment in the Market Square.

Both campaigns are aimed at raising the profile of markets and small businesses in their local communities and highlighting the important role they play. There will be choirs, musicians and a magician to entertain you and a face painter for the children, and you don’t have to be a child to get your face painted! For those with a competitive spirit you can take part in our Markets Quiz and have the opportunity to win tickets for a family of four to the Corn Exchange’s ‘Sing-a-long-Joseph’ Christmas show and a fantastic Cambridge Markets Christmas Hamper.

The Market Square is a hive of activity with around 100 stalls offering a wide selection of goods from fruit and vegetables, CDs, clothes, gifts and flowers to sweets, jewellery, books and recycled goods. There are also a number of services offered on the market including a tailoring stall and two outdoor hairdressers! The Sunday Market offers a selection of produce from the region’s most esteemed artists, craftspeople, photographers and farmers, while the unique All Saints Garden Craft Market provides an opportunity for local artists and craftspeople to exhibit their work in this delightful tree-shaded garden in the heart of historic Cambridge with the motto "We Make What We Sell"!

Councillor Andrea Reiner says "I am delighted that Cambridge Markets are supporting the ‘Love your Local Market’ Christmas and Small Business Saturday campaigns. This is a great opportunity for us to highlight the important role Cambridge Markets and small businesses play in our local economy. I hope as many people as possible will take this opportunity to come and join in the activities and enjoy exploring the fantastic array of stalls on our markets."

So support your local small businesses this weekend and Love Your Local Market; Cambridge Markets really are SUPER MARKETS!
