Pupil Premium: £50m Additional Investment & Universal Credit

Nick Clegg also announced a £50m extension in 2015-2016, of the Liberal Democrat Pupil Premium to help the most disadvantaged early years children.

This Early Years Pupil Premium can be spent by providers, how they see fit. They could, for example employ more highly qualified staff or increase access to services such as speech and language specialists.

Universal credit

85% of childcare costs will be met under Universal Credit. To help more families move off benefits and into employment, the Government intends to cover the bulk of the cost of childcare for around 300,000 families making sure work always pays.
